FAQs
What are Carbon Emissions Sync Services?
Lifecycles[4] on HP Brighter Futures devices are offset by the HP Carbon Emissions Sync Services, delivering third-party-validated CO2e offset services[5] and reporting, making each step of your sustainability journey more clear and accountable. This means that devices have credible, transparent carbon impact–backed by rigorous lifecycle assessment[4] and validated offsets. HP also estimates and offsets device lifecycle[4] emissions, supporting sustainability goals from day one. Carbon reporting[6] is simplified with HP - easily estimate, validate, and document device emissions for clear insight into your tech’s climate impact.
How do we know our carbon impact is actually offset?
HP provides a Sustainability Benefit Report on a quarterly basis upon request. This report details the verified carbon offsets applied to your fleet and is backed by third-party validation in accordance with ISO standards and the CarbonNeutral Protocol.
Does this programme cost extra for education establishments?
HP Carbon Emissions Sync Services are included as part of eligible device purchases through the Brighter Futures programme. There’s no additional cost to the school — it’s HP’s way of supporting sustainability in education.

[4] Lifecycle assessments (LCA) are validated by a third-party to conform to ISO 14040 and ISO 14044 and are used by HP to estimate the total carbon footprint for HP personal systems products. Using this data, along with the information unique to each customer (e.g., product ship-to location, product portfolio), we estimate the total carbon emissions for a customer’s fleet. HP prepurchases and retires carbon offsets, procured through Climate Impact Partners who certifies HP’s Carbon Emissions Sync Services in accordance with Climate Impact Partners Protocol.

[5] There are two offset options available: HP’s Carbon Emissions Sync to the Door option covers carbon offsetting of material extraction, component and product manufacturing, and product logistics. HP’s “Lifecycle” option includes everything in the Carbon Emissions Sync to the Door service, plus device usage emissions over a four-year lifecycle for commercial HP notebooks and mobile workstations, and a five-year lifecycle for commercial HP desktops, displays, and workstations, including end-of-service for eligible new and refurbished devices.
